On this website the AquaReUse concept is presented. This concept centrally collects waste water from a greenhouse horticulture area and cleans the water till usable irrigation water. By reusing the waste water a closed water chain is created which benefits for the environment and also cuts down the costs for companies and government. Less water goes to a sewage installation, less groundwater is subtracted for greenhouse horticulture and qualitative good and clean irrigation water is created.

Solutions

In greenhouse horticulture there is a year round water shortage of qualitative usable irrigation water, regardless the use of rain water for pouring. Also the distribution and cleaning of sewage water from the horticulture industries lead to high costs for the industry. Even more, modern sewage cleaning installations are not designed for cleaning water of this type and current sewage systems are dimensioned for occasional peak flows. By closing the water-chain in greenhouse horticulture a solution for these problems is offered.

Closing the water chain

Closing the water chain offers the posibilty to derive water from waste water. Industrially this has been applied world wide even for the production of drinking water. The AquaReUse concept makes the first steps for closing the water chain for greenhouse horticulture in the Netherlands.
